Most courses and instructors require that you use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition, when citing materials. Your instructor may refer to this as the APA Style Manual or APA 7th.

Some online sources that will be helpful if you don't have APA 7th handy:

  Great general information under sections for "In-Text Citations" and "References."
• Online Writing Lab: APA Style (7th Edition) (Purdue University)

  Includes short discussions on quotations, references, notes, and general format. (Ignore the Citation Machine.)
• APA Style Blog (American Psychological Association)

  Official companion to the APA style manual. Will have official tips not published in the "print" 7th edition of the APA style manual. Searchable.
• APA Style: Handouts and Guides

  Excellent PDF guides to What's New, Paper Format, Citations and References, and Mechanics of Style.
• APA Style: Sample Papers

  Includes a PDF Annotated Student Sample Paper and a Student Sample Paper in Microsoft Word format without annotations.
• APA Style: Tutorials and Webinars

  Information on the 7th edition of the APA style manual. Topics include: Basics, Citing Works in Text, and Creating References.
