OER Update

The OER working group meets virtually on October 14th at 9 AM. This is a great place to start if you are interested in getting into the OER conversation. You will need to contact Bruce Wardlow for the link if you would like to attend.  If you have any questions about this meeting or OER in general, please call 651-2221 or contact Bruce Wardlow. We hope to see you there.

We wanted to share the latest OER testimonial with you. This newest testimonial comes from Professor Adam Weiss, who won a $25,000 grant to develop an OER resource. We look forward to sharing what he creates with the world.

Lastly, we wanted to share an OER resource with you this month. As you spend time looking at OER, you will inevitably come across BCcampus, whether it be through a rubric, an attribution, or a textbook. As one of the juggernauts of Open Education, BCcampus has collected a considerable amount of information about OER and made it into a browsable, free resource. The BCcampus OER by Discipline Directory contains links to course content, textbooks, websites, and other supplementary materials, all sorted by discipline. It even includes links to OER in development that they are aware of. So, if you are looking for somewhere to start your OER search, or if you need a place to make a quick sanity check and ensure that you aren’t developing something that already exists, this resource may be a good fit for your needs.
