Cartigans' At Homecoming - Take Me To Your Reader!

After a successful debut at last year’s music-themed homecoming parade, Cornette Library’s book cart drill team, The Cartigans, is blasting off once again! Dazzling the crowd at the “Out of This World” homecoming parade, library staff will teleport you toward new adventures and spread awareness of the library’s astronomical learning opportunities!

For the uninitiated, a book cart drill team is a group of library staff members who perform choreographic routines at events with book carts (the metal carts librarians use to move books, periodicals, and supplies). Cornette Library’s The Cartigans made their first appearance at last year’s homecoming parade and have since performed routines at several library events.

This year, The Cartigans present “Take Me to Your Reader.” This program features “The Cartigans in Black” and their extraterrestrial friends exchanging the intergalactic wisdom that will save all mankind (and ET-kind!). “The Cartigans in Black” have chosen not to fight their extraterrestrial adversaries, opting to embrace a spirit of celestial collaboration. Through understanding and compassion, we become better together! Why fight when we can help each other grow?

Cornette Library’s book cart drill team roster includes librarian Chelsea Kuehler and staff members Annie Birtciel, Olga Cantu, Karibeth Gibbs, and Deanna Moore. Kelly Hoppe, Associate Director and Head of Research, Outreach and Instruction, will again lead the troupe, this time in an alien spaceship! Librarians Mary Rausch and Beth Vizzini and staffer Mac Nies continue to contribute to the team but will be unable to attend the parade.

This year’s homecoming parade will be held on Saturday, October 12th, at 1:00 PM. We hope to see you there!
