Because of limitations to how many authors can be specified in a single search, playwrights here are grouped by:

  • the top contemporary Black playwrights (those of the 21st-Century by whom we have the most plays so far)
  • 20th-Century Black playwrights (at least mostly active then)
  • emerging Black playwrights (whose work we only so far have work in anthologies, if at all)

The number of results shown for each category should grow automatically over time.
