Evaluating Online Information

This guide will provide opportunities for viewers to work through the various techniques and steps of evaluating online information such as things found on websites and social media.

Introduction

For many of you, the Internet and social media have always been around, but in reality, these are fairly new things.  Facebook went live in 2005 and before that, there was MySpace.  At that time, these types of social media did not disseminate the same type of information they do now.  As the type of information being posted on social media changed and there were more places to locate information, the need to have a new way to evaluate everything on the web landscape became apparent.  This guide will explore some of the ways people can be manipulated by what they see online and walk you through some of the steps to evaluate various web resources.
