Describing a Study

While reading scholarly articles, look for:

  • The purpose of the study (stated in the introduction)
  • The research approach (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods)
  • Participants in the study (who participated)
  • Research design (e.g., survey research, experimental research, narrative research)
  • Research methods (How was data collected, analyzed, and interpreted)
  • Results (What were the findings of the study?)
