We had a busy Fall at Cornette Library, and we're sure that you all did too! It was busy but so much fun. As you may know, we made some changes over the summer, including combining reference and circulation into one Main Service Desk, updating our webpage, and saying goodbye to Mary Jarvis, Pam Wilson, and Jodi Thomas as our friends and colleagues retired. We welcomed WT students both new and old, participating in Welcome Events, and showing The Incredibles the night before classes started.
In September we added new features to our library website, including a live chat interface, a way to book our study rooms online, and a way to make an appointment with a librarian online.
We hosted the 2nd Annual Student Research Poster Session, displaying the exemplary work of our student population. We're so impressed and proud of their work!
We hosted another poster session in October to display the work of the McNair Scholars, and all of their hard work.
In October we also decorated our door for Homecoming, hosted Game Night, Painting with a Twist, and an exhibit about World War I. We had readings and talks take place in the Blackburn room. We also held our Bibliobonaza event to tell students about how awesome all the different parts of the library is. October was a busy month for us! We also dressed up for Halloween and stayed dressed up for meetings.
In November we hosted a Faculty Open House. We enjoyed speaking with faculty. We always love having you, and look forward to future conversations with you!
We also had an Open Mic Night organized by the Library Student Organization with an amazing turnout. Watching WT students display their creativity was inspiring!
The Gallery of Excellence reception also happened in our atrium. The WT community is amazing, and it was an honor to help recognize them.
All of this on top of providing the best service possible service to the WTAMU community. We look forward to what the Spring semester has in store!
