The moment my father passed away, January 10th, 2018, a part of me died with him. I knew that in order to move forward I needed to create a body of work to allow me to sense that he is always near. My father and I shared the same passion for photography. His love of photography is the reason I chose to use photography in this work combined with my skills in Graphic Design. I integrated photos of my father with portions of his handwriting using photoshop and various effects.I choose photos from his younger years, because in these specific pictures he was around the same age I am now. I felt that in adding my father’s handwriting it creates a sense of movement almost as if he is still here. I developed each photo, blending my own style and emotion while trying to balance both the age of the photo with my own creative contrast. All of the images are geometric polygon with a closed figure on all sides of the photo. Through this work I hope to share my father with the viewer in hopes the images speak to you in some of the ways they speak to me.
My father was and remains an important person in my life and now his influence will forever be felt through my art.
