SOCI 1301: Introduction to Sociology

Finding scholarly journals, evaluating sources, becoming familiar with library sources for the field.

Citation Style

  • Dr. Kunz requires that you use APA style for your writing.
  • Style is much more than formatting references. It includes:
    • language usage
    • font size, line spacing, and page numbering
    • paragraph, page, and table formatting, etc
  • There is a copy of the sixth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association at the Research & Access Desk.
  • The links in the box to the right are excellent sources.

Your assignments for this class require that you use scholarly articles. The sample citation below is for a journal that continues page numbers from one issue to the next, which is known as continuous pagination:

Magagna, J. (2013). The development of language in the early months of life. Infant Observation, 16, 112-129. https://doi.org/10.1080/13698036.2013.806635

(please note the double spacing and hanging indent in the above sample)
